Default Zoom R24 not Getting enough input volume

Hi, so Im new to the R24, and have already ran across an issue I cant find in the Manual. So Im recording audio for a short film right now with the Zoom, But when I hook up all the shotgun mics, in any channel, the volume is very low even with the preamp all the way up (and BTW i do have +48 on). I checked the menu for maybe a volume pad that needed to be adjusted but I cant seem to effect it that way. I listened to a recording I did with the volume low, and it came out "ok" but Im not happy with it being so low. Am i missing something here? Why wont my Zoom recored at full volume?

My Zoom R16 only has phantom power only on channels 5 and 6. Maybe the R24 is similarly limited to only certain channels getting +48?

How low is "low"? How hot are you wanting it and why?
Have you used the mic with any other interfaces?

This still feels like a phantom power issue. I'd look deeper into it. Are you using a standard XLR cable? 87xjco's advice sounds interesting as well.

well on the features list, it says phantom power is available on 6 inputs at a time. Looks like inputs 3 thru 8 should have it available when switched on. But there might be some available settings in the program menu that can turn off or on, phantom power for desired channels. Maybe some are selected off?

He's correct. Channels 5 & 6 are the only ones that phantom power works with. Could be something as simple as that.

    Good luck regardless.
