Unhappy Zoom HD16 issue

I am a new user of the HD16. I can only get 2 of the xlr inputs to turn on at a time. When I try to turn on a 3rd input, the other 2 go off. This is not good when trying to record a quartet. Is there some setting I am missing? Vetdentist

Guys, i NEED your help....My Zoom HD 16 is Awesome!!
Here is my problem,Im trying to record this Stereo sample from my Roland SP555
onto tracks 3-4,and i changed the Input source to 3-4 for stereo. Its like a Dog Barking
with a Ping-Pong L/R Delay, when it Plays through the Zoom, with recording tracks Off,
the delay ping-pongs from right to left, but soon as i engage recording for 3-4 (red),
i lose the Stereo ping-pong!I tried panning it hard L/R,still the same thing. Its driving me batty!.......HELP!!

Oooooooo-K.....well,the manual talks of selecting a stereo track,or two mono tracks,
maybee ive selected two mono tracks and dont realize it......like i said,i did change
the input source to 3-4.......i guess that didnt do the trick.....its a little confusing to me,
how do i know,if ive selected stereo or two mono tracks?

The HD16 inputs selection to Track selection works like this.

Inputs can be used in pairs. 1-2,,,3-4, 5-6, or 7 -8

They like to be assigned in pairs

1-2, 3,4, and so on or or to any of the four stereo tracks.

If you need to record more than 2 inputs at one time you must push the 8 track record buttom located by the headphone outs.

Once you do this you cannot change track assignments. inputs 1-8 go to tracks 1-8 . You can copy or bounce them over to stereo tracks only after they have been recorded.

Hope that helps.

Remember if you record a stereo input to an adjent pair of tracks EG 1 and 2 you will have to PAN track 1 and 2 to hear the stereo effect on playback.
