Default Erasing Tracks, etc...

Hi All!

I'm still ploughing thro' the Manual for my HD16. One area that I'm really struggling with is erasing. In particular I would like to erase all track data (ie from 1-16) between time A and time B - can this be done?

Also, is there a simple way of erasing your last track recording/overdub?

It would be great if someone wrote a proper Users' Manual - I find the manual provided leaves me with more questions that answers!

All the best,

Charlie.

Hi Charlie,

I don't know about the track cutting question (erasing between time A and B)and I don't think its possible to erase your last overdub as there is no "undo" functionality with the hd16. I read about this from the "Sound on Sound" preview of the machine. I think the work around is to copy the track to a virtual track to act as a backup before you overdub. Then if the overdub doesn't work out, you bring back the virtual track. A pain I know, but 8 XLR's w/ individual phantom power was more important to me than the "undo" feature.

Best wishes.

Hey guys, I was just deleting V-takes last night and it is a lot easier than it seems. I don't know if I can remember exactly what to do, but check out the section in the manual on V-takes. Basically, every time you record on the same track, it keeps up to ten takes and you can easily switch to which one you want to hear. To delete a V-take (or your last overdub or any overdub) hit the Track Parameter key and then arrow over to Erase. Select the track you want to delete. For example, deleting 7-1 will delete the first overdub on track 7. Deleting 7-4 will delete the 4th V-take (overdub). It is only a couple clicks. And you can select which one you want to listen to this way as well. It is automatic as for recording the v-takes, it will just keep numbering the track for you and plays back the last one recorded unless you specify otherwise. As for deleting across all tracks simultaneously...? Hope this helps.
