Default Yamaha psr i425 keyboard: usb midi driver installation problem

Hi, I have yamaha psr i425 and windows 7 OS 64bit on my dell laptop. When I'm trying to install 'USB-MIDI Driver for Windows7 from yamaha website and as per guidelines in the manual, I get Error 25001 which says - no device is connected. connect a device and try again. Even when the cable is connected, the laptop doesnt recognise the usb cable itself. I've tried uninstalling/updating driver in device manager, booting the laptop with the cable on and all such options but in vain.
    Pls guide on this. thanks.

    Hi there,
Welcome to the forum, I only just noticed your post - that can be the most frustrating thing, getting set up - drivers were one of the banes of my life in the early stages. I see it's been a couple of days now.... are you up and running??

Make sure you are installing a 64 bit version of the Yamaha USB driver.
    Latest version I could find.

No luck...its very frustrating. Tried installing 'um3123x64' (USB-MIDI Driver V3.1.2 for Win 64-bit (XP SP3 / Vista SP2 / Win7 SP0, SP1 / Win8)) driver as well. But am unable to install. As and when I connect the cable and switch on the keyboard, I get 'USB device not recognised' pop up. Attached is the snapshot of the error. Pls guide. Thanks.

Usually you would install the driver then plug in the keyboard and it would work.

You're saying the driver wants the keyboard connected?

    Have you did this?

Plug in the cable and turn on the keyboard, it says device not recognized, cancel and get rid of their dialogs.

    Now install the driver.

If that didn't work I'd contact yamaha and open a support ticket.
