Yamaha 01V96
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Yamaha 01V96. Wagener had a couple Sony DMX-R100 Sony Digital consoles and I thought it was a truely amazing mixer. It was a lot like using a DAW in that you readily had a fully parametric EQ, gates, compression, and a million other features on each channel...even if you didn't need it.
Well a band I'm buddies with is looking to add additions to their VERY large PA system. They are focusing on the soundman tools. After doing some research, it looks like they are going with a Yamaha 01V96. I was checking out the website just to see what it could do and I noticed that it could control Cubase SX.
I was just wondering if anyone had used it as a control surface. I've never had a control surface, but everyone I know who has a control surface seams to love it. Furthermore, having a VERY powerful digital mixer would be a VERY welcolm addition to my studio.
It appears that I may get sucked into being the soundguy for this band so I may have to learn the mixer anyway. Any ideas on the learning curve for a digital mixer? The Sony DMR-100 had enormous capability but most of us attending the workshop had a decent handle on it in the 9 days we were there. In other words, it was pretty simple to learn.
