While I don't record rap, I can say that the Shure SM-58 is the most popular all-around vocal mic, and it's relatively inexpensive (I think under $100). Sounds great, too, most professional recording places have two or three of them. -Tyler |

The SM 58 has been used on rap records you own, Bytch Killa. However, it has it's own sound to it. I'd probably just snag a $100 MXL mic and go from there. Your first mic is not all that critical. It won't be your last! Brandon |
