Rethink it all & buy a Mac... Logic Studio 8 is a powerhouse. And the new Macs can run Windows as fast as any Windows Machine. You can choose to boot Windows or Mac (or both at the same time). What's to decide?

I'm getting a small Firewire one -

Buy M-Audio FireWire Solo Mobile Audio Interface online at Musician's Friend

there's a lot to choose from depending on how many inputs you need, etc. There's a few USB ones too that are a bit cheaper but Firewire is faster (so less latency problems). I'm recording on my G5 Imac with just my guitar plugged into the LINE IN using a cheap 1/4" -> 1/8" mini adapter - the Imacs have a small pre-amp built-in for guitarists ... I get great sound and no latency at all - not sure if I even need this thing but might get one to see if sound gets EVEN BETTER.

I'm using Logic (my DAW) and Amplitube 2 and Guitar Rig 2 - I also use a Zoom G2 hooked in direct too then use the amp models from it directly.

Or just join a cult.

I personally think that asking a person to completely switch platforms is ridiculous. Use whatever you are comfortable with. If you have never used a Mac, you are free to try but I could never find a reason to ditch my PCs.

This is what I hear. I know that Cubase SX3 studio is a powerhouse. I hear that the newer Cubase 4 stuff is also a powerhouse. In the end, the need for a "powerhouse" will depend on you. I recorded over 700 songs in my busy studio over the course of several years using very low end software. Only you can decide if you need a powerhouse or not.

Get as much RAM as you can afford. Plan on buying a copy of XP to add (for a dual boot system) so that you won't run into problems with your audio interface. That's really it.

No. You may want to re-read my previous post again. I think that Mac's cost more money for no added benefit. That's my opinion anyway. I've done very well with my PCs and I can build them for a fraction of the cost of a Mac.
