Yes. Immediate, discernable, audible. Let me put it this way. Using the same mic selections, same recording environment I have at least 25% less mixing time. It is one of those wow improvements. The kind that you hear others talk about but making in their recording journey but wonder if it will happen for you. Anyway, when I did some research on the RNP I discovered that it was in the racks of many pro studios. Since I couldn't afford to move up to the $1000+ pre's I decided to buy this one. So, I modified a rack to accommodate the RNP and now it is in my magic wand.

Awesome. I'm glad to hear you made a jump. I could never really hear much difference between my Presonus M80 and Vintech 1272. When I snagged a Trident S20 I didn't hear any difference either. I always seam to work the same amount on a mix. I did notice the Mackie 1604 preamps seamed kind of "veiled" a little bit, though. Since I've never used the Mackie on anything critical, I've never had to record with crappy preamps, but never really done anything pro sounding with my high grade preamps either.
The RNP is considered to be THE budget preamp to buy. They've got more noise than some of the higher end pres, but everyone seams to think they've got great character to them. I've never used one, but in the recording forum world, they are very, very popular.
Maybe one of these years, I can try one out and see how it compares to my current stuff.
