Default What do I need to buy?

I'm probably going to get cubase 4, unless anypone can recomend something better? I'm new to recording on computers, what other stuff do I need to go alongside it so I can get recording? My sound card is pretty basic, I don't know how that will affect things? Is there any thing specifically that you'd recommend? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm still using Cubase SX3 because I consider it to be ROBO OUTSTANDING! If Cubase 4 is an improvement....well....I really don't know how they could improve it. I have a handful of things I don't like, but no piece of software is perfect.

I couldn't imagine a person paying $800 for Cubase and then using a "basic" which I assume to be stock soundcard. One link of your chain would be made of steal, the other would be made out of bubble gum or something.

If you are getting Cubase 4, I HIGHLY recommend you find a real deal audio interface. See my home recording soundcard wizard for details.
