voice processor... newscaster voice?

Anyone succeeded in getting a good "newscaster" voice on a recording? I have an idea along these lines I'd like to explore but unsure of how to process the vocals to get that kind of a sound. Looking for something almost like what you'd sound like over a CB radio or something. Intelligible but with some static and crackle in there. Thanks !

Do you mean "voiceover" or "newscaster"?

When I think of newcasters, I think of those people who stand in front of cameras telling lies in Iraq or at the local ice cream place with a dynamic mic with a very tight pattern. They compress the hell out of it and call it day. I consider this sound to be "utility" at best and not really worthy of being sought after.

Then there is the Dan Rather sound. This is a high end lapel type of deal. They may mix an overhead shotgun mic in there too if they want to get fancy, but only the big networks would do this... but they probably don't.

Then there is the Morgan Freedman voiceover sound on March of the Penguins. Good luck on that one. That's an amazing voice talking into what sounds like an expensive microphone.

I guess I should have read your entire post before writing.

I guess you are talking about the telephone sound. This is fairly simple.
Roll off everything below 800Hz (give or take), roll off everything above 3Khz (give or take), boost the hell out of 1-2Khz (give or take), and then put a little distortion on it.

That's the ballpark. After that, it's just an issue of creativity and finding/tweaking the right plugins.
