Default Vocal VST ?

Hi,
My question is, which VST (plugin) is the best for vocal ? I tried Antare and the one that came with Sonar 5 but it's not what I'm looking for. I want something that can sound more studio with natural reverbs and that can reduce the sound by itself when it's too high.

No compressor will have reverb in it. How much you wanna spend?

Uhhh. Well, that depends on the vocal. I've put chorus, extreme amounts of distortion, retarded delays, robo sounds, and just about everything else you can think of on vocals at one time or another.

Is this like turning up the "rocks" knob? (You know, if you want the track to rock more, you just turn that knob).

You'll need to describe what "more studio" is to me becuase I'm completely clueless.

Question Re: Vocal VST ?

I have always wondered how it's done?
What exactly needs a vocal track for to sound solid( assumming it's recorded well and in a correct pitch) with a good effect without notice(ing) the kind of reverb and/or delay used?I know it's a matter of taste but still ...there must be some standards...or am I wrong.

I tried most of the UAD compressors and LA3 made my voice where I could actually stand to listen to myself. I like a plate reverb set to where you can't really tell it's a reverb, just adds a little depth.

There are some vocal tracks that have a certain sound that you can't quite say what it is. One of those is Eventide 4detuners patch (hardware FX), It lets the original through panned center. Then it makes 4 copies panned hard left, right, mid left, mid right respectively. The 4 voices are micro pitched 7 cents up and down for left and right mid and 14 cent up and down for the hard pans, as I remember.

Standards? If it sounds good use it. Lot of hardware and software out there to try. Never ending search.

When I say "standards" I mean some settings or type of revrb, compression etc.or the way of applying it which could be a starting point -so to say.

...that's how I work now -working out the "sounds good" thing -but it's so much time consuming and eats up the time one could use for (musical)creativity.I was hoping ,instead of trying to invent the hot water I could use some already proven "template" :-) and take it from there to customize it for the needs(style) of my song.

Reverb isnt nessasarilly the way to go m8. Alot of the top producers are using delay instead of reverb. Most engineers set the delay time to the tempo of the track, this makes the delay pulse with the music and create a kind of reverb effect.
