Default a very confused noob needs help. :)

hey guys,

ok so the thing is... i don't know much, if anything, about recording technologies and stuff like that (ex. what is a pre amp? or a mixer?)
yes, i am very jumbled right now, so i'll try to explain my question as best as i can

i have an Emu 0404 (USB) audio interface, and at first i was going to record my drumset through one mic (the 0404 has 2 inputs)
however, i saw a pretty good deal (or so i think...) for 7 drum mics (CAD Pro-7 7-piece drum mic touring pack for $200 CDN)
so, i was wondering if there's a device that i can connect the 7 mics to, then have that device run it into one output so that i can record drums and (ex.) guitar at the same time through my 0404 into my laptop

does that make sense...?

well anyways, thanks!

makes sense. you need a mixer with built in preamps. if your interface has SPDIF input, then you can get a mixer with SPDIF output and still have your 2 inputs on your 0404 available for guitar or whatever. if your interface doesnt have SPDIF inputs then you will need a mixer that has enough inputs to handle all your drum mics plus your guitar mics/DI. you will want to run a stereo output (2 channel) from your mixer into your interface, so that will use up all of your inputs on your interface.
