Default Using a pad controller

I just learned of something called a pad controller, like the Korg padKontrol or something like that. I watched a video on YouTube about it. It looks pretty cool. Was wondering if that would facilitate programming drums as opposed to just doing it within the software interface itself.

And I imagine you can use something like this with all the software recording hosts like Reaper.

Then again, if I don't actually "program" my own drums, but rather just use the pre-recorded patterns and beats, I don't know if the padKontrol would be useful for that.

Sure. You can enter MIDI data however you choose: A mouse, a keyboard, an electronic drum set, an acoustic drum set with triggers, or this pad thingy.

Any recording software with a MIDI sequencer should work wtih it.

If you are using pre-recorded loops and such you really aren't using MIDI. If you aren't planning on using MIDI this box won't help you.
