Trouble with the Tascam US-122L HELP!!!!!

Hi,

I recently just purchased a mac mini with a gig memory(custom), an m audio nova condenser, and a Tascam US-122L.

Here is my problem:

The mac itself seems to recognize the tascam unit fine BUT

Logic, Cubase LE, Cubase sx 2, Ableton 5,6, amadeus

all fail to detect it whatsoever

the crazy thing is Garage band picks it up ok I sometime have to unplugh and plug the usb but garage band seems to be the only one not giving me high blood pressure.

someone please help me!!!!!!!

I hate to apply a time constraint but I got like 6 days to return this tascam thing if I am goint to so I hope Brandon and you helpful people can aid in my misery...... I just want to get recording as soon as possible

Only thing I can think of is do you tell the software(s) that you're using the 122, but you probably did.

I'm not on mac, so i can't help much there. I'd be calling the place when I purchased it. Hopefully they have support.

It seams odd that so many programs wouldn't detect the Tascam US-122L. I've never had a problem with a program not detecting a sound card as long as the operating system (Windows XP in my case) detected it.

If you are confident that you are not doing anything wrong with the sound card, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I've never owned a Mac and never owned a Tascam US-122L.

I could give you some generic advice, but if the Mac recognizes it, then the problem is either specific to Mac or every piece of software you have listed (unlikely).

These Tascams dont look very reliable... I didnt get one for that reason.. they look good on paper i guess...

Yay someone else with US-122L troubles! Not quite the same as mine as I've had no detection issues, but troubles nevertheless.

Obvious questions that spring to mind... Have you checked the US-122L is enabled under Applications/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup ?

Under the Logic Express Audio Preferences have you selected the US-122L?

Have you upgraded to the new 1.02 firmware / drivers on the Tascam site?

I'm just starting to be told that these US-122 / US-122L's don't play very well with Macs (3 months after having bought one!) and am not very happy, especially as Tascams customer service seems to be non-existant. If you do get it working with Logic Express PLEASE let me know as I've got an issue where I can't reduce the I/O Buffer Size that I simply cannot solve, nor can I get anyone to replicate it

When I run into problems like this, I've found that formatting the computer almost always takes care of the problem. You may consider taking an evening to back everything up, reinstalling your OS, and then reinstalling everything. It's often quicker in the end.

Erm, I'm sorry to sound sceptical, and in no way do I want people to think I'm slagging Windows (as I've owned and programmed PCs for some 20 years) but this is a Mac y'know ! If it was a PC I'd certainly try that with a new test-installation.

Reinstalling OS X and software is not something that typically solves Mac problems. On a Mac typical troubleshooting is to Verify and repair permissions, check the disk for errors and then try replicating the problems from another user account. All of which I've tried, the problem replicates itself through other accounts.

If I could get someone to say "NO it doesn't happen to me, I'm quite happily using Logic Express with a US-122L on an Intel iMac (heck even a PPC Mac would be a start) and I can reduce the buffer size beyond 256" THEN there may be an argument to try reinstalling everything but as it stands I can't get anyone to confirm they have the problem or anyone to confirm they haven't got the problem

All I get is a silence followed by the sound of tumbleweeds... I think I must be the only person using the US-122L with Logic (Pro or Express)

I am working on my new mac to! The mac on itself is fabulous, but the friggin tascam US-122L doesn't work at all, and if it works it suddenly doesn't work anymore. Ive got a complete ' studio configuration" but i cant seem to get the setting alright for this card, at first i thought well maybe i am doing something wrong and tried everything, but i think its just the soundcard, i am not using logic perhaps handy to know.
