Like does it do the whole shutdown thing or does it just crash, fade to black, go out for a beer, etc? What operating system are you using and are you running Sonar on a 64 bit system (eg:XP64)? Have you updated the drivers for your multimix? There were issues with the first drivers (source: Alesis Multimix FAQs) (Unfortunately, this appears to be the norm with most PC stuff. "Here....you guys debug it....thanks for the cash dude!!") Baron |

Enough rambling. Is your system clean? In other words, do you have tons of junk installed that would mangle the functionality of Sonar? If so, you may want to Format Windows or setup a dual boot setup. Brandon |

)I meant that the original drivers for gadgets you plug in to your PC (the ones in the box) are very often superceded (read bugged) so the first thing you have to do is look for the latest drivers on the manufacturers website. In this case Alesis. Even my Plasma TV had to have its drivers updated to fix some small bugs Cheers Baron |

Hi Baron. yes the pc shuts down, however i have fixed that by uninstalling multimix drivers and installing latest updates. now in WDM/KS mode it only gives me 1 in and 1 out, and in ASIO I am getting 7 in and 1 out as it is a 12 channel mixer I should be getting 14 in, any ideas. and thank you for the reply. |

Hi Baron, I had the PC built about 2003. it has creative soundblaster 24 bit audigy 2ZS. XP pro. service pack 2. intel pentium 4 cpu 3 gig and 3 gig of ram. 2 x 120 gig hard drives plus a 500 gig external drive. it has been perfect up until i installed multimix 12. having been a Cakewalk and Sonar user for several years I suppose I can live with using ASIO drivers with only 7 inputs as i don't get more than four muso's in at a time. Thanks Guys. |

Have a look at your tracks and make sure they are not configured as stereo. I just noticed that there are both USB and Firewire versions. The USB version is for USB 1.1 As the standard for USB 1.1 is only 12Mbits/s (USB 2 is 40 times faster at 480Mbits/s), and normal 16 bit 44.1K streams at 0.67Mbit/s, it does not give much room for error. I recently went through this with a similar desk and the USB port was not able to run at more than 1/2 the standard. That would limit it to 8 transfers max (we just loaded up some wavs of known size and timed the transfer to a external HDD, did the calc and cried )We played around for ages getting the USB 1.1 up to 10Mbits/s and that involved much playing, driver fiddling, 6 packs and sleep loss. As the 1.1 port is so taxed you have to optimise to the max. Have you ensured that all other PC sounds are routed to your SB card? Have you ensured that you are not returning to your Multimix and direct monitoring instead? Cheers Baron Last edited by Baron; 08-10-2007 at 04:35 AM. |
