Default TC-Helicon Harmony4 Compatible with Cubase le and non-PowerCore system?

Hi Gang,

If a company says that a product is: "VST compatible host application"
does that mean that it would work with cubase le? Or more to the point, if I buy the E-MU audio interface and use Cubase LE, will I be able to purchase the TC-Helicon Harmony4 and use it? Or will I need PowerCore software in order to run TC-Helicon's Plugins?
The Harmony4 is found here with its system requirements:
System Requirements

Thanks,
Yair

You're right but TC-Helicon's plug-ins need also the PowerCore software from TCElectonic and in addition also a VST compatible software.
This sucks.

Powercore is a piece of hardware, right? Isn't it a PCI DSP processor?

Very few people jump right in with TC Powercore caliber plugins when they first get started. I'm still running entirely native plugins, for that matter (although I'm about to make the jump after 6 years of recording and more gear than I'll ever need for the rest of my life).

You're partly correct Brandon. It can be either a PCI or it can be a peripheral hardware connected via FireWire. But in all cases it is a DSP hardware accelerated effects.
So to incorporate PowerCore in your system you would need that hardware. A really nice software/Hardware bundle from TC-Helicon is the Powercore Compact (Peripheral) or PCI version. You can find a comparison chart between the different PowerCore units and all the plugins that come with them at the bottom of this link:
PowerCore Compact
The price range is around $600-$800 I think.

You can also get the PowerCore Unplugged ($400) which is just the hardware without any plugins bundled with it. Now you can add whichever plugin you want to add to it. This is different than the PowerCore Compact ($800) which comes bundled with 12 plugins which you may not need if you got them already or don't want them at all.

With no bundled plug-ins PowerCore Unplugged gives you the liberty to compose your own palette of plug-ins, but it does however require at least one PowerCore plug-in to run.
