Tascam US-1641 - Computer Interface?

I'm probably 2 years late in replying to this one - but might help anyone having a similar issue. I have always been recording on Acid Pro 4.0 which you might probably find in a museum now-a-days; however, was most comfortable with it and had neither the money nor the inclination to upgrade. That was until i learned about real multi-track recording. Turns out that Acid 4.0 didn't allow me to select my input channel from my audio interface (Line 6 KB 37 - which has 2 mic inputs). Just upgraded to Acid Pro 7.0, which allows me to record both mics as separate channels.. so am looking to buy the Tascam 1641 or the Line 6 UX8 to be able to record over 4 mics at a time.

In a nutshell (based on the little experience i have with recording as a mere hobby!) - not all DAWs might support the feature of being able to select your input channel into each track. The better ones obviously would, but don't think recording programs designed for absolute amateurs would have such features.
