Hi! I have a question for someone more knowledgable than myself. Does the TASCAM US-1641 bring in 8 SEPERATE analog channels into my recording software? I use Adobe Audition 2.0 - and want this thing to stream 8 mic's at once into Adobe. Will this do that? I can't tell if there's just a "master out" or something.... would ideally like 8 streaming input at the same time. Thanks!!! -Matt

Yes, I have one and it can simultaneously stream 16 separate channels into a multi-channel audio application. Eight of the 16 inputs are XLR mic inputs with phantom power.

i have two outputs coming from the rear of the unit 1/2 and they are going into to channels in my mixer... on q base i have the monitor icon hi lited on the audio track that has the vocals going in.... the rest of the audio tracks are guitars and drums... I then plugged my headphones into the headphone jack and what i was hoping to happen was have all the instruments and vocals coming into the headphones and just my vocals coming out of the p.a system (i was in a seperate room with condenser mic and headphones on) the problem is when i turn the dial on the tascam to computer.. just the vocals comes out to the headphones.. when i turn the dial to input just the band comes out to headphones. What i ended up doing is i then hi lited all the monitor icons on all the audio tracks and then i got everything coming into the headphones... as far as the p.a. with i only wanted the vocals to come out i am not sure if instruments which i didnt want were coming thru. Any suggestions what i am doing wrong? (i have the guitars going in the front xlr's and the bass into the guitar input at front) |

Have you ever recorded multiple channels into Cool Edit using a different audio interface? If the answer is no, I suspect that you need to learn how to set up multiple channels for simultaneous recording in Cool Edit. I've never used Cool Edit, so I don't know the answer specifically; however, most DAWs allow you to select the input channel on a per-track basis. I'd look for this in Cool Edit.

yes i have with m- audio using a 4 channel interface. i am kind of new to the recording scene. is there a software that i need to use to connect assign channels from tascam to cool edit or any other program? |

I used the delta series break out box. the m-audio program had a mixer for each track on the delta series break out box. the tascam us-1641 does not have that program. or is that what cubase is for?
