Default Static clicks when using mouse wheel

Hey guys hope you're all well.

Been searching the web for a couple hours for a solution, but no fruitful hints yet.

When i use scroll bars (either with the wheel of via the pointer) I can hear a quiet static clicking sound (this is more audible on web pages). Mouse movement produces no sound. Also, a recent mixdown I did had clicks and pops everywhere (don't know if that's a related issue or not).

I've checked for IRQ conflicts, re-installed drivers for mouse and soundcard.

Anyone experienced anything like that?

cheers

James

Sometimes another program will set something in your volume properties that causes you to monitor sounds you don't want.

This has happened to me anytime I've used a "microphone level" feature in a gaming program. Then I find I get static sounds when I move the mouse around, or click, etc. Check your volume properties window and see if anything is turned on you don't want. Though I can't remember exactly what I did to eliminate this problem, I may have clicked "Do Not Monitor" on the microphone property... take a look at your Volume Panel.

Thanks for the advice, I looked at all the audio settings but nothing makes any difference. However, when I was fiddling I noticed that the sound is coming from the rear of my computer case/tower!

Ah yeh. Its back again still coming from the rear of the pc. Everything to do with onboard sound is off in the BIOS.

Check that your fans on all devices are intact.

My video card fan made the same noises and i thought it was just random. Then I opened up the case when my video in games started going weird, and the fan had completely come off and jammed.

When this stuff starts happening to me it means it's time for a format. Unless I have something big going I won't hesitate to format my rig immediately.

This suggests you are working your computer way too hard.

1) You have you latency set too low for mixing.
2) Your computer is in rough shape from a software standpoint.

Your mouse click issue would support the second option.
