im trying to multi track record by splitting the stereo input-
I have two microphones going into a mixer which then is plugged into my computers microphone jack. It's a laptop and the line in and mic. go through the same 1/8 in. jack. The cable is an RCA (L&R) out of the mixer down to a stereo 1/8 inch into the comp. I have an older cakewalk recording program called guitar tracks which has 8 tracks. I can change the input on each track from "Lt sigmaTel Audio", "Rt sigmaTel Audio", "St sigmaTel Audio". My guess is that they stand for Left, Right and Stereo. So i was hoping i could pan one mic all the way Left and the other all the way Right. Also while having two tracks recording, one on "Lt" and the other on "Rt" to achieve two seperate tracks. However i cannot seem to truly get a microphone to come in on JUST the left or right channel. I try one at a time and get equal L & R signals... i don't understand I noticed in windows 'recording control', the 'mic' has no panning option but the Line in does.. but if i select 'Line In' i don't get a signal. I believe that i have a usable Line in option, maybe i'm mistaken. Any Suggestions? |
