Default Soundcard Question

So I just got my Focusrite Saffire card in today along with Cubase LE

I'm still trying to figure out how it all works, but right now I want to know how I can use the sound card as my computer's default audio device. Can someone tell me whether its possible or not to use the Saffire card to listen to audio off iTunes or video games? I don't see why not, but I will appreciate anyone letting me know how this can be done. Thanks.

Eduardo

I think the Safire would be referred to as an interface as oppsed to a card which plugs into your PCI slots.

Go to your control panel in Windows and open up the "Sounds and audio devices" panel. If you installed the drivers for the Saffire it will show up in the list of playback devices. Simply choose the Saffire and you're in business.

Thanks for correcting the newb mistake ryanoliver.

I had a problem installing the drivers for the interface. I downloaded, off Focusrite Audio Engineering | Global Site | Support | Updates & Drivers: Saffire, and updated the drivers. Everything seemed to have worked out as the instructions say. The LED lights turned on an off like it stated. After the setup, Windows XP verifies the installed hardware is ready for use.

I go to control panel and Saffire, under the Hardware tab in Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices Property, page shows: Device status: This Device cannot start." (Code 10).

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit XP, you may have the wrong driver.

I just went to the safire site and it says the driver is compatible on both platforms. I'd just re-install, make sure you don't plug in your interface until after you install the drivers. Then it can do it's plug and play thing.
