Some tricky problems with recording

Hi

I just finished instaling all my basic equipement in my studio: my computer, my maudio fireware410, my monitors and my rode nt2a.
But when I tried to record something, though my voice is clear, I have like some sort of crack behind.
My room is very quite so there's no problem in that.
Also, the crack are only when I speak in the mic. I turnd the bass cut, pream, volume etc. No change.

Anyone any advice?

"crack" is not very descriptive. Is there any way you could put up an audio demo?

Crack is good on snare drums. I've never heard it mentioned on other instruments.

An audio file would definitely limit the guessing game, here.

I've got a feeling it's latency. Crank up your latency a little bit and see if the crack goes away.
