yo, whats up , im new here and just getting my thoughts about my home studio. i want to know do i need headphones for the vocals so they can hear themselves, if i do, what do i hook them up to? Does the Beat playin on the monitors affect the vocal recording? Your help is appreciated |

You need an audio interface. It will perform the tasks of a mixer, though probably with less channels simultaneously. Two channel interfaces are cheap and will be fine if you're just recording one or two instruments (or vocals) at any one time. A small handful of audio interfaces have no facility to attach headphones, but most do have this facility. Although this might be a little more expensive than buying a mixer and connecting to your computer's built in sound card, the improved quality and work flow make it almost compulsory! |
