Hi. Just joined the forum yesterday, so it's my 1st post. I wrote a question to BRandon earlier and he suggested, quite rightly on reflection, that I post it here on a new thread. so here goes:- Hi Brandon. Sorry, I suppose I should have threaded this one on the main site, but I was actually searching for the prophesy and saw that you'd advertised one a while back. Just to put you in the picture, I've been offered one of these for not too much money considering what they fetch new. At the moment I'm recording via my digitech gnx4 into the usb of my PC. The gnx4 is ok I suppose, but the tone isn't that great. I've heard the tones coming out of the prophesy which was being played via the same monitors as I own myself, which are Alesis MK11. The tone was far more in keeping with what I'm try to achieve with the gnx4, which at the end of the day, just can't get up to the mark as far as tone goes. Anyway, that aside, I was wondering if you could advise me as to the practicalities of recording with the prophesy and what other gear would I need. Sorry its long winded, but any help or advice would be appreciated. Dan |

I thought about selling the Prophesy but I've decided to keep it for now for the effects. I can always dial in something weird when tracking guitars and it's bailed me out of trouble several times. As far as the tone is concerned, I've messed with this thing several times in the past year. For me personally (going for mega pro tones) I think the Prophesy is useless. It's the best sounding distortion in a Midi switchable effects box, but that's all it is. It's not a real amp. Do yourself a favor. Save up $20. Go to your local Music store and the employees if they know anyone with a Vintage Marshall Plexi. Call that guy up and offer to bring him over a pizza or something in exchange for a tone lesson. Tell him that you are considering buying a real amp but you were instructed to hear a REAL amp first. If you don't do this, you will kick yourself in a few years when you spend way too much money on junk. I can think of 20 amps (maybe more like 200) that I would buy before buying the Prophesy again. Hi Guys! Another newbie from Puerto Rico. My name AMG, i just join the forum and reading around i notice that Brandon is THE man. I started my home recording studio and have so many questions, but little by little i'll figure it out. Well here it goes, I have Tascam M2600 16x8x2 a Behringer B-1 conderser mic, Alesis monitor one mk2, no preamp, no power, so it's ok if i don't hear my mic??? Sounds stupid but...

This would be good in it's own thread. and, if there's no power, and no preamp, then I'd be real suprised if you DID hear anything =/ * edit* oop, just noticed you did start a new thread. Last edited by Strat-O-Pat; 12-22-2006 at 06:00 PM. Reason: personal blindness |
