Default Question about Garage band and line 6 guitar port

I am thinking about getting a new mac book pro equipped with Garage Band...

And I wanted to know if anyone knew if the Line 6 Guitar Port is compatible with it

If anyone could respond it would be great

From personall experience I have to rate garageband '08 as a piece of s**t.

We have it running on a G3 in OS 10.4.9 with either 512Mb or 1Gb of RAM (can't remember exactly which) using a digi001 interface.

It seems to work fine, down to recording MIDI from an external keyboard or drum machine. However, playing back the MIDI patern from the recorded drum track causes the system to switch the monitor signal on and off periodically, then complain about too many tracks or track effects and then finally black screen with the only options being to press the power button or the reset button.

Thanks cybercat, I know garage band is a pretty simple program to use, but I have been using Line 6 Guitar Tracker in the past and I found it to be too basic...
What would you recommend that is inexpensive and can produce some good quality recording along with mixing?

What about Macintosh®?
YES. GuitarPort® XT with GearBox™ software fully supports Mac® OS X.

Line 6 - GuitarPort

I usually steer people towards Cubase as it's pretty damn good at essentially everything. As for the audio interface, I always recommend the Home Recording Soundcard Wizard in my signature.

I am relatively new to recording, and I haven't used a Mac too much. I have a guitar port which can feed into the computer but I don't know what settings on Garage Band to actually get it to play.
I understand that Garage Band isn't the best recording software in the world but I just want to lay some tracks down right now to improve my playing. As a college student I don't have a whole lot of money flying around so I was hoping to get some advice on this simple yet complex world of recording.
