| sorry i dont know why i deleted this Well Today I picked up my new recording setup. A Tascam DP-01 Digital Recording PortaStudio. A 10ft mic cable which converts to 1/4". And a Shure SM57 dyn mic since I know its one of those must have mics for most people. and for 100$ thats a real good deal. Now heres the problem. The only way for me to get ANY sound from the mic is if i have the input level really high with alot of back fuzz and distorting crap. Now I was pretty Shure( Haha bad joke) that the mic wasn't supposed to be like that. So then i went and got an old cheap ribbon mic and that even came through fine not as good quality but the input level didn't have to be jacked up. I also tried direct guitar input and that turned out fine with levels and such. Now these are the 2 possibilities I'm thinking of. First the Cable is busted somehow and the mic can't get through to the Tascam DP-01. Or second theres something wrong with the mic itself. Any input from people out there that could help me check and see whats the problem. Also I do plan on going back to Guitar Center tomorrow and seeing what they have to say, Such as testing the mic and the cable to see whats wrong with them. Here's the Mic btw http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/pr...sku=100038 239 Last edited by Jamingguitarist; 08-22-2007 at 12:44 PM. |
