Default Problem with my Tascam 122L (crashes)

I am using windows XP Home on my acer aspire 5630 lap top, each time I try to install my tascam with the 1.03 updater it crashes on me. I installed windows Xp home as a second operating system so that i can run my tascam 122L, but unfortunately i wasted my money I believe it could be a driver that is installed on my laptop thats causing the crash but im unsure of it.

Chipset Type : Mobile Intel 945GM Express
Data Bus Speed : 533 MHz
Intel Core 2 duo processor 1.6GHz 2Mb L2 cache

here is the code when the blue screen comes up
0xc0000005, 0x00000000, 0xF7A157c8, 0xF7A154c4

Afterwards i go to device manager and there are many devices with an exclamation mark

The devices that have an exclamation mark are: (acer orbicam)
(HL-DT-ST DVDRam GSA T10N)
(HDaudio soft data fax modem with smart CP)
(midi device)
(Realtek high definition audio)
(Tascam us122L)

Could it be possible that my tascam is not compatible with these things, or not compatible with my lap top?

How do i know what sort of things the tascam is not compatible with?

Please help, i already spent many hours trying to fix this, but came with no luck.
Thank you in advance.

Did you follow the intructions to install the 122L exactly?

Did you, by any chance, plug the 122L into your PC before you installed the update? I mean, did you disconnect it first?

Do those things with an exclamation mark have an exclamation mark before installing the driver? I suspect they would if you have installed a new operating system and probably have nothing to do with the installation of your 122L. I would uninstall completely, the 122L, get the missing drivers from Acer's web site, and get them running first. You might not be able to get all the drivers, particularly if you were running XP MCE before (which I suspect you were). For those that you can't get drivers for, disable them completely in the control panel. The DVD might be a problem if you can't get a driver for that. If the devices didn't have an exclamation mark before installing the 122L (doubtful), then you can do a restore to get your system to the way it was before you installed the 122L and get your drivers back.

Once you have your system set up fine with things disabled or no exclamation marks, disable the Realtek sound and install the 122L again following the manufacturers instructions to the letter - sometimes you have to plug the device in first... sometimes you have to install the drivers first. Read the instructions and follow them. If you still have trouble after that, let us know what happened.
I can't see any reason why your 122L would not be compatible with your PC.

I did follow the instruction exactly and carefully but, no luck

When I install my tascam the yellow exclamation marks appear after, its not there before, i then reinstall all the drivers but still have no luck, the same thing happens, even if I disable some drivers.

I dont know if it is compatible with my sound card, or the devices that are installed.

I have no clue what to do I'm afraid that if i buy another audio interface it might not work.

Was it working on the previous version of the software?

You sound a bit down about this. Smile and picture this as a learning challenge. We will get there just don't book a recording session this weekend

Cheers

Unfortunately to say it never worked at all, it almost worked when i installed XP Home and there were no drivers installed which were these:

After installing these drivers I was back to square 1, it kept on crashing
so i suspect it has to do something with the drivers

but i tried fixing this problem for so long i think i had enough of all this learning

And here is the yellow exclamation marks after its installed and crashed:

Unplug the US122. Reboot. Plug it back in... if you can, plug it into a different USB port. It should go through the driver installation process again. You could try disabling the Realtek driver first and whatever that MIDI device is too. If that doesn't work, unplug it, uninstall the driver, and follow the process for installing again, making sure you observe when you need to plug it in.

Well i finally managed to fix it, if anyone gets the same problem heres how you fix it:

I reinstalled windows XP Home but I didnt install any of the drivers (Right-click on "My Computer" go to manage and under device manager there should be a list of unassigned drivers
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/f...5/untitled.jpg

The computer that I was running (acer Aspire 5630-6895) for some reason didnt let me install My tascam 122L,

I am not sure which driver is causing it to crash but, i suspect it has to do something with the chip set driver

It could be either one of the PCI Flash memory, PCI device, SM bus controller, or video controller, it could be also the realtek high definition audio, but

im not sure, anyhow all you have to do is reinstall XP home but not install any of the unassigned drivers.

Heres a list of What could be causing your computer to crash:
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family
Plug and play monitor (Doubt it)
SCSI and RAID Controllers
Realtek High Definition Audio
One of the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem With Smart CP

After a successful install, install cubase it will say "no audio input" and "no audio output", all i did was restarted the computer, and it worked fine.
