Problem with m-audio fast track pro

Hey, recently purchased m-audio fast track prop. I've installed all the software, hooked up my microphone, the microphone is receiving power and the preamp is showing it's receiving a signal. However, when I go to record anything I'm getting nothing. Any suggestions? I've tried using Audacity, and Adobe Audition 2.0 thus far and neither have picked up anything.

Have you selected the M-Audio drivers in the particular DAW software?

Are you using a PC? with XP? If so, go into Windows Control Panel Hardware Devices and see if the driver shows up there and it is without conflicts.

For troubleshooting purposes it might be worth while importing a known good wav. file into the software to find out if you can hear it.

Where and how are you trying to monitor the output? Through the M-audio, correct?

Try to share a few more details about your computer and what you have tried to fix the problem so far.
