Presonus Firestudio Project static output

I recently bought an FP and it wont work with my computer, everytime i record with it, the output that comes out is the stuff that i recorded but horribly distorted.
Help?

Have you tried to adjust buffer sizes and or latency settings in software? When asking questions like this it is helpful to add information such as your computer specs, software, and what you have tried already.

You can also playback the .wav file in Windows Media Player to see if it also distorts. If system processes are interrupting the play stream, it will show here. If it plays fine, then you have to examine the DAW software set-up along with soundcard driver settings.

Playback should be a very easy thing for any computer.
