Default Presonus Firestudio Project PROBLEMS

I posted before, but I am very desperate as to finding out whats wrong with my recording interface. During recording I keep getting drop outs and it skips. I was told to run in Safe Mode and this helped the droup outs occur less, but it's still happening. I do not save to my internal hard drive. I have no unneccessary programs running, I have more than enough RAM, i want to record at 92.00 KHz 512 sample rate, but even at lowest settings it still does it about every 30 secs.

Toshiba Satellite A215S4747
Windows Vista
4 GB RAM

What? Your options are 44.1Khz, 48, 88.2, 96k, and 192. I'm not sure what the 512 part is.

If the computer is clean and the CPU usage is very low but there are still clicks and pops regardless of latency/buffer settings than the problem is probably due to a hardware conflict (due to Chipset issues) or poor drivers.

Are you using the latest drivers from Presonus?

The Firestudio Project comes with software to send seperate mixes and so u can control the bit rate and the sample rate. yeah I have downloaded the latest drivers. A rep just told me that I need an external firewire chipset because im using my onboard firewire card which is also a combo USB. What would u recomment me doing? Do I really need a Firewire chipset from Texas Instruments or VIA? or can I go with something else that works? I dont want to spend $120 plus on a chipset if I dont have to. I dont have a lot of money right now.

DEFINITELY! This is not an issue of "a performance enhancement". This is an issue of trying to cram a square peg into a round hole (metaphorically). You have a physical incompatibility and your audo interface simply limping by (at best) using your current chipset.

Head over to Newegg and spend $8.

I had similar problems. Presonus support recommended this card to me: Newegg.com - SIIG 1394 3-port PCI Card Model NN-440012-S8 - Add-On Cards

However, ultimately, I needed a new pc. Oddly, I got by with a cheaper VIA firewire card.

If you have a wireless card try disabling it when using cubase. It stopped my skips. Now I love the interface.
