Oh well, I've ordered the PreSonus Firepod now, just waiting to pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

You can really get ripped off in some places, a store was having their stocktake sale and they got it down to $1109 AUD for me from $1299 RRP. Anyways, went to my buddies at Guitar Factory and managed to get it down to $945 AUD.

Unbelievable that the store was having a massive clearance sale and they couldn't even match a store that wasn't having any promotion/sale on.

Moral of this story, don't just jump in and buy things, always look around

And thanks for all the replies, you've been very helpful.
I'll be sure to check out those Microphones you all suggested.

I have a rather large room downstairs with quite nice acoustics so i'll just have to experiment like always.

Sounds good, dude. I think you'll be happy with the firepod.

Quick question, what exactly does "Input 1&2 Left" and "Input 1&2 Right" mean?
Does it mean that Input 1 is on the left, and Input 2 is on the right?

I need to connect all my microphones to seperate channels on the Firepod, so does this mean I'm recording in Mono anyway?

Cheers.

Yes, if you are recording a stereo track. If you are recording 2 seperate mono tracks (kick to input #1 and snare to input #2 for example) they will both be center until you pan them in your recording software.

Any single microphone will always be recorded in mono unless it's a stereo microphone. From there, you pan as you please. This is what causes the stereo effect.
