Exclamation pre-amp to mixer to cubase???

Aight so I havea MXL V63m microphone, a Samson C-valve Pre-amp, and a Phonic Helix Board 12 Firewire MKII. I used to use Cool Edit Pro, but recently started using Cubase SX3. I'm having trouble setting up my microphone in cubase, and was wondering if anybody could help out. Worse off, when routing my mic through the pre-amp to the mixer and then into cubase, I can't find any way for my audio to pop up when monitoring, much-less record. Can anybody help... Pleas!!!

Have you checked to see if you have the correct input selected?

Question Re: pre-amp to mixer to cubase???

yeah i got my phonic ASIO input selected, but it only shows sound on my left side. I kinda fixed what was wrong wit it earlier. but I still get no monitor feed on my right side, just my left. Then when I record, it comes out with no sound at all...

The inputs and outputs in Cubase need to be set up. The PHONIC ASIO is the driver. Press F4 and tell us what you see?

Aight for my inputs:
Phonic ASIO sterio in - Phonic ASIO Driver
Left - 1 Phonic HB12MKII Ch. 1
Right - 2 Phonic HBK12MKII Ch.2

Outputs:
Phonic ASIO Driver stereo out - Phonic ASIO Driver
Left - 1 Phonic HB12MKII Out L
Right - 2 Phonic HB12MKII Out R

That enough info to help, or you need more?

You microphone is just a mono source. You will only get one track recorded. So then you pan it to wherever.
Make sure you pann this track to the center and then see if you can get sound on both monitors. Or better yet, Import a stereo file to use for testing.

Also, what is the mixer for? I would take it out until I was sure that everything else was working.

See that's the thing, it records into the audio track. I can see the wave pattern and all, but when I play it I hear nothing. Not even a little to show the volume might just be low. While it's playing it shows the rising and falling of sound, but I hear nothing.

And the mixer is hooked up cuz I have my fantom x connected , and my drum machine for finishing touches. You think I should still remove the mixer? And what do I do to get this sound working?

Help me... help me please...

Ok, you can record but can't hear playback. Have you turned off (or on) the little monitor button on the track?

Have you adjusted the Control Panel to use less CPU? Sometimes if you push the latency too far it stops playing altogether.

You don't have mute button on do you? I'm clutching at straws here.

Thumbs up Re: pre-amp to mixer to cubase???

Preciate all the help, but I finally figured it out the old fashion way... By just messin wit everything till it worked. Lol. Here's what happened, and it's stupid really. I had my input and output to my mixer, which woulda been fine except that I don't have my speakers hooked up to my mixer. So the output that was going to my mixer was going no where really. I noticed it and changed my output to my realtek drive on my pc and that fixed everything. Good lookin on the help but it was a silly mistake I had made that was messin me up. HAHA.

Case Closed
