Post Pitching Your Non-Pro Tools Studio To Clients

I was reading a recent recording magazine. The author implied that it was very tough to convince bands to record at his place if they didn\'t use Pro Tools. Well, as you may know, I am not a Pro Tools user. This article is about pulling bands into your place when you don\'t use Pro Tools.

our studio is all professional 2 inch analog (3m machines with an Amek M1) and we've never had a problem getting clients. Personally, i feel that 99% of the time it's basically the nut behind the wheel. Yes pro tools has almost monopolized the digital studio format, however, IMHO, i think that nuendo is a better sounding format.

2 cents.......

I 100% agree and that was kind of the "hidden" point of the article. Any engineer who is worth a damn should be confident and competent enough to explain the way he works and why he works that way for any client.

In the end, most bands don't have a clue one way or another. If a guy really thinks he NEEDS a Pro Tools studio, you can usually change his mind by giving him a few subtle hints that he doesn't know shit (in most circumstances). If he really does know his stuff and knows he needs Pro Tools, he's just going to go somewhere else anyway.

My mastering dudes said the same thing.
