Default Ozone Izotope 3

Does anyone have experience with this plug-in? I'd like to know more about how people are using it. For instance does anyone use this for anything besides mastering? How about some recommendations on settings and lessons learned. Let me know. Thanks...

I played around with it a few years ago. It didn't really do anything that my current plugins don't do. The quality seamed pretty decent, but the plugins I already own sound decent too.

D2dadub - I'm using Ozone now. Are you still interested in it?

I'm interested in hearing tracks mastered in Ozone. I'm thinking about getting it, even tho it's not hi end but it's a bundle I can save money on.

Check out the attachment. This is not my best mastering effort, but it's all I have at work right now. I'm still learning Ozone and experimenting with it. Go to the Ozone/Izotope site and have a look at the Mastering with Ozone techniques. It sold me on the software.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you guys expecting mastering to do?

I really like this set of tools. Although I could probably achieve close to the same results with plug-ins I already have in Protools, Ozone makes it much easier.

The loudness maximizer is great for getting the levels up, the muti-band compressor and EQ is also great for tweaking the overall mix. The plug-in presets really make it easy and saves a lot of time.

My Protools came with Ozone lite version so for $149 to upgrade to the full version was a no brainer for me. I'm not a guy who likes to sit there and tweak around with multiple plug-ins to find the sound I am looking for, I like the idea of starting with a built-in preset, making a couple of adjustments, and getting on with my day.

Ah. I see. I'm the exact opposite. I think presets are pretty much useless. This may be why I could never see the point in the Ozone Izotope 3 mastering plugins.

I don't do sound engineering a whole lot, just when recording projects I am working on. That on top of being pretty new to this, I don't have the experience to get a great sound by tweaking yet, I usually make things worse.

I have a lot of disadvantages that makes presets attractive. Untrained ear, lack of experience and lack of understanding of all of the tools. I suppose the more I do it the more I will be able to hear more of the sound I want and use individual tools to get me there.

It is one thing to understand what each tools does and how to apply it, it is another to understand how each will effect the final output when combined with all of the other tools you are applying. Something that can only come with experience I think.

Do you think you are cheating yourself out of some of that experience by going into "auto mode"?
