Hi everyone, Happy to join this forum. I have a ton of new songs which I want to record with my pC and FP10 firepod I bought. So far i haven't been able to get anything to work.... (probably better at writing and making songs than actually recording them) My latest song ' A human Prayer' is just dying to get recorded... and I think I need exactly that ... a human prayer to get the hardware to work. If anyone has links or info on how to set up and run a PreSonus, with CubaseLE together a simple combination of 2-3 vocals, guitar and sax mic, Yamaha XS8 (my workhorse) and pc workstation I would be eternally grateful. | Completely unrelated, but since I toot the saxamaphone, what kind of sax? (Then again, maybe it is related as I can then follow up with asking how you're micing it and with what type of mic -- and then perhaps give alternatives to try out).

Many thanks for replying. I found the Fp10 instructions a bit basic, and the Cubase a bit heavy. However, specifically I seem to be challenged by; 1 Getting a 4-part song recorded already on the XS8 to be split out by part on CubaseLE. Additional vocals and instrument need to be then added onto top in cubase through the FP10, with the 4part used as a backing track. Right now all 4 parts from the XS8 end up in on one midi track, even though on the XS8 I have assigned outputs and in cubase I have 4 midi tracks with inputs assigned the same numbers. I am connecting to the PC via the FP10 wirefire port. I have the midi cable from the XS8 into the FP10 (I don't think the 2nd wirefire port on the FP10 is available for this) The main issue with this being in one midi track is that all 4 parts are being played by one intrument... which sounds like a banjo thrown amongst a bunch of paino strings. Would i need to record separately each track individually with the XS8 or can it be done with multiple tracks simultaneously? Thanks for suggestions / advice. Philip |
