midi impaired

hi i just installed cubase 4 studio and all seems fine so far but i have also purchased a midi controller. it is a m audio axiom 25 i installed the software but i cant seem to get any midi sounds. i downloaded a program called midi ox to check it and when i run that i get sounds from the controller. cubase 4 does not have the axiom 25 in the midi device list so im not sure what controoler name to use? i am assigning the wavetable synth as the output but no luck so far. there is no manual with the unit and i cant find any help on the m audio website anyone have exp[erience with this? thanks in advance. ps everything else seems to be working i can record and play audio tracks but no midi. thanks

I would not recommend getting in the habit of using the Windows Wavetable synth because it is not routed through Cubase.

I get the vibe that you haven't went through the Cubase 4 Getting Started Guide. I'd HIGHLY recommend that you do this.
