Default M Box With stand Along Drivers Question

Hey guys,
Need Some help,
I have an original M box from digidesign, and installed the stand alone Drivers for Windows XP Home.
Now in the audio tab of windows under Sound Playback, I can Choose the MBox Channel 1-2. Which routs any windows sounds back though the M Box, so I can listen to it on headphones, but under sound recording I can choose anything but my default sound device. In the Manuel for the stand alone drivers its capable of running 2 channels of in and output, just no multi channel stuff.
If the manual says that, I would assume that I should be then able to select the M Box as well for the sound recording option as well.

Also on a side note since I have the M box already acting as a pre-amp, I would like it to work on my laptop with SIA Smaart as well, so it saves me from buying another preamp. On the lap top, although it shows the Mbox listed under Playback in windows audio control panel, in smaart itself the Mbox isn`t listed in either the playback or input section of the configuration options.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
soundguy_99

Look through the options of the recording software you are using. I know I have had to go in and add channels to the list in Cool Edit to get things working the way I wanted. I had to look at the buss and add devices to get it to work. I hope that is what it is and I hope that helps you.
