Default M-Audio - Mixer issues

Hi Guys..

I Just got my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra, 8in/8out. It has 4 pre-amps wich sound amazing btw. so what i wanna do is use atleast 6 of the inputs for my drums (im not sure i can use all 8, course of the last two are s/pdif). And becourse i only have 4 preamps, i wanna run the last inputs though my phonic mixer. so what ill do is take my jck inputs from the interface, an put to my insert point in my mixer. there from ill take the last two or 4 mics directly out of the mixer, and from there should be able to record all 6-8 inputs out on sepperate tracks in my software, but still only the 4 preams is getting though here. what am i doing wrong?

Thx a lot

/Jeez

I think you are complicating it too much. I don't know why you would want to use the insert.

You've got 6 line inputs to play with. So you can use four of the preamps. That leaves you two line level inputs. These will be used for your mixer output, left and right. (You can input as many mics to the mixer as you want but they will be summed and you will only see two tracks the mixer in your software. This is not a big deal. Mix the mics on the MIXER! Say stereo overheads or whatever. Plug one mixer output to a line level input for left and the other for right. Those are your six tracks.
