Default m audio Fast track with windows xp mce?

Wow. This sucks. I was going to pick up my m audio fast track interface after work. I got to looking around on m audios website and find out it wont work with windows xp media center edition.

Am I reading this correctly?

Will it work ? Man I am bummed.
Is there anything similiar to this I should look at within the same price range ?

This totally blows my mind that this will not work on my pc with this os.

I think this is gods way of telling me my voice and guitar doesnt need to be heard. ................I am going to look for the answer at the bottom of a brown bottle.

If the store has a return policy, you could buy it and try...

I think manufacturers have been overcautious with the whole MCE thing. I used M-Audio, Tascam, Steinberg and NI stuff on MCE with no problems whatsoever, but none of them support MCE... it doesn't mean it doesn't work. It just means that if it doesn't work, they won't help you fix it. Also a cop out if you ask me, but that's life.

On the other hand, you can pick up a brand spanking new XP Home license for $100 if you really wanted peace of mind.

Thanks for the reply richiebee.
I thought about buying it and just trying it.
I wanted to see what people on here had to say about it.
I do have xp on my laptop but really wanted my desktop as my station.
I have an old emachine in the closet with a fried mobo. I think I might fix it and use it just for my recording stuff.
Its hard to believe that its easier to put a video with sound on my pc then just recording sound.

Because Richiebee seams to have a lot of success with Windows XP Media Center, I've had a hard time figuring out why non of the software companies haven't supported it.

Having said that, Microsoft is not known for doing anything productive anyway.

I really wish the would make their operating system smaller, cheaper, and less taxing on the processor. When they start meddling around with media, they give a substandard product to the person goofing around with audio or video and at the same time make it much more difficult for anyone taking their craft seriously.
