Question M-Audio Fast Track Pro w/ Sonar 7

Hello all,
I am new to the site here and semi-new to self recording. I figured I would ask here if anyone is using the setup of a Fast Track Pro with Sonar 7. I seem to be having problems getting the vocal track to have volume and come in stereo within the program. I am only using this fast track device for vocals, no other insturments. I create a new audio track within sonar, and select the fast track pro as my input (stereo), and my sound card as my output. The track only records in mono and the signal is horribly weak. I am using a Sure SM58 microphone connected XLR to the m-audio device. The device is hooked up USB to my computer with the audio output going into the line in of my soundcard for playback. I have tried searching M-audio's knowledge base with no success.

Within windows, the device is showing as connected and online. If anyone can help me out with this problem, I'd appreciate it. I am not sure if this is a windows related problem, a device incorrect hookup problem, or a SONAR config problem. hehe.. its a pain I know.

Thanks again for reading.

When using a single microphone, you are recording a mono source. So select a mono track and your track will be dead center unless you pan it.

When you select a stereo track, you are actually only feeding it the left side (assuming you are using the #1 input) and therefor nothing comes out the right side.

Thanks Brandon that worked well. I am now hearing my vocals in stereo by selecting "right mono" from my M-audio fast track input. Only problem is the monitoring is very low. I think I can remedy that by lowering my main mix volume. I am figuring out how to do that.
