alright, i apologize for making my introduction with a question so let me first introduce myself. hello, my name is tank, and im pissed. im using adobe audition and i cant figure it out. im trying to record directly into my computer..any other time ive always just plugged a mic into my compute and hung it infront of my guitar or keyboard, whatever..now im recording electric, and need to record directly into it.. my friend told me i could buy a quarter inch plug extension thing and plug in and get recording..but ive tried every available option and all i record is the freggin noise around me and its driving me NUTS. i have an amp, a digitech rp350 pedal, an array of patch chords, and the little adapter thing to plug int othe computer..do i need anything else? where does everything go? if you help me i will personally gift wrap a fat ball of good carma and send it your way. thanks |

goddamn do i wish i could answer your question..haha, how can i determine what kind of soundcard i have? all i did was unplug the pink plug from the pink hole and plug a patch cord into there and plugged the other end into the headphone jack of my amp..like when i record..it records everything happening in the room..me making noise, the cieling fan..it just sounds like im holding a mic up in the air, and i dont even know where its recording from. i am extremely sorry for being as ignorant as i am when it comes to this shit, and greatly appreciate your patience in responding to this thread. peace tank |

OK I see. some other guy had this same problem also. basically the problem is your soundcard isnt designed for recording. i guess it can be done, but your results are gonna be less than good. you are trying to run a line level signal into a microphone input. the weird thing is it sounds like you are picking up a mic signal from somewhere because it records the room ambience. do you have a built in mic on your computer or monitor somewhere, or maybe a USB mic?? if so, unplug any mics from your comp and try again. also open up your volume controls for your soundcard (the littel speaker icon in bottom right corner) and turn the mic volume all the way down and see what happens

k, i found the source of the mic..it was a webcam..the very webcam i took those pics with.its disconnected now, and now its just no sound at all...lol if you can tell me where to go from here, i would be delighted!!!

Have a look at the back of your fancy looking FX pedal and see if it has a direct out or line out. If it does, plug it into the blue jack (line level input) on your pc and go into your windows mixer/volume control and select options/properties/recording then tick the 'line in' box. You then have to adjust your levels on the mixer panel. Baron
