Someone on another site said it could be something to do with my soundcard being set to a 'what you hear' option? where it picks up everything thats goes on in the laptop dooes anyone have any ideas how to turn this off? Captain |

It depends. Some factory sound cards do not have a way of turning this off. Some have a control panel thingy that should do it. (I'm not sure this going to help you though). You may get lucky with that part of the problem, but latency is still going to be an issue. I think latency is causing the problem now. Brandon |

Hey So two things i've thought when i saw ur post, first, since its not a new portable, the soundcard might be kinda old (usually portable technology is a lil behind the normal pc technology). Plus I've never seen somone record on a pc. Only macs are good for that. The pc just have the cheapest soundcards. So you could always follow brandon's idea and buy a better soundcard. But if I were you (this is personnal, its your money) I wouldnt since the computer isnt new. Just use ur normal computer , if u have one of course... Alex |

what about if i bought a Lexicon Alpha sound card recording thingy? would that work then? on the laptop? its not a really old one and it's full of memory ![]() and fast! is the Lexicon Alpha an ok sound card to record on? what are your thoughts on it? or can you recommend another sound card in that price range that is better? cos im on a tight budget!!! Captain P.S would a 'Line 6 Toneport UX1 USB Guitar Interface' do the same thing? cos i ain't sure what this is but it looks good ![]() or a Line 6 TonePort UX2 recording Interface? thank you Last edited by CaptainRoberto; 05-04-2007 at 02:58 PM. |

The #1 reason I started this forum was to weed out the bullshit. I was sick and tired of people giving bad advice. I'm self taught and have tried just about every piece of advice out there. Some of these "urban myths" are just plum ridiculous to a person with any knowledge or experience, but are a total distraction to the serious musician trying to learn. As a person who is new to the game, what makes you think you can come on this forum and post flat out lies when you obviously don't know? Are you trying to go out of your way to confuse beginners? Why? Your "Mac only" theory is bullshit. While there is always debate about which format to use, that's just it. It's a heated debate because both sides have compelling arguments. In the end, it comes down to the operating system (especially now that Mac as using Intel chips just like many PCs). Most recording tasks are easily handled by any modern PC or Mac. It comes down to the musician. I don't mean to come up like an asshole. I've answered 1,000s of newbies questions in the year and half I've had this forum. However, I get upset when someone goes out of their way to type a message could seriously confuse a beginner. ------------------ Quote:
Is it the right audio interface for you? That's an interesting question. I built the Home Recording Soundcard Wizard (see my signature) to help you answer that. |

What about the Line 6 TonePort UX2 recording Interface? would that work ok? is this a soundcard? and do you know if it would work ok with adobe audition? i like the look of this beast! its had good rewiews! |

I recommend using my Soundcard Wizard and see if the Line6 comes up. If it meets your needs, consider using it. If it doesn't meet your needs, don't use it. The most important part of choosing an audio interface / sound card is understand what YOU need. What you need is different from what I need! The Soundcard Wizard will help with this. Brandon |
