I need help with my PRESONUS FIREBOX!!!!

Hey everyone.
I have a Dell Inspiron 4gb, 2.0 dual core pentium and, unfortunately, I am using Windows Vista. I bought the PreSonus Firebox recording interface to start some home recording. Everything was working just fine when all of a sudden, I cannot use the interface as my standard sound card anymore. I can record with it just fine but I cannot play music files anymore. The drivers are installed properly and windows even says so. However, there appears to be something wrong with vista becasue I can do recording with the card. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Hi Orko,

Make sure that you have disabled your on-board sound card. If it’s not disabled, then the computer will just default back to it from time to time, especially in windows media or itunes.

Other than that, make sure that you have the 2.46 drivers and if it’s still not working, do an uninstall and reinstall.

In XP, you could route the audio interface into Cubase but still use the dumb factory soundcard for playing back Media Player by keeping the stock soundcard the default soundcard in control panels. I know ZERO about Vista (and hope to keep it that way until it's actually safe.)

Have you tried setting up a Google Alert? I get a list of all sites that mention "RecordingReview.com" that day. It's very convenient to know what if people are talking about the site or sending me a link. Then again, that may be a LONG list with Presonus.

Hi Everyone I need HELP! I'm from Australia and just bought a Presonus Firebox which cost me a small fortune. I'm using vista home premium. I can record and play back fine in the cubase le software that came with the firebox which is good but now can't play any other sounds in windows media player etc like Orko. I've disabled other sound devices but still have had no luck. Now i cant even get the old devices to play sounds and cant get any sounds / music to play. Its driving me crazy! I sent an email to Presonus tech support who said they would reply to my email within 10 business hours but that was over a week ago and i still haven't got a reply. If anyone knows how to help that would be great.

In XP (not sure about Vista) you can set the default Windows sound to your audio interfaces outputs in control panels.
