we have an intel 2.4 Ghz magix studio 12 cakewalk music creator 4 got misc mics 3 are phantom power no studio monitors been playing back through the pa or computer where would the studio monitors plug into ? we are planning to record through the adats or through the pc i have the adat connect card in the computer that connects to the adat terratec does not have adat inputs nothing changed is why i don't understand about the crackling problem. another problem i am seeing is we have 5,000 watts of amps one is 2000 the other 2 are 1500 when play a cd or tape we have the master fader on about half way and just about blow us out of room but when we do live stuff the guitars we have the gain almost all the way up along with the fader and still can't hear it we want to record and play live thank you |

I'd make the decision to either record on the ADATs or the computer. I would go the computer route, but to each his own. Quote:

Are you putting microphones on the amps? Baron

| Ok.....do you know how to meter your inputs on the desk? I mean, can you see the level of the input on the level meter? When your CD or tape is playing, can you see the level on the meter? If so, how much difference is there between the CD and the guitar mic? Does your desk have a line/mic switch or a pad switch, near where you plug in your mics? Lots of questions, I know, but we'll get there ![]() Baron

I believe he's talking about your mixer. There may be input level meters to give you an idea how much signal is getting to the mixer (Board, Desk, whatever). A "pad" may be there to reduce high gain signals before they go into the mixer. And finally, the Line / MIc switch, if you have one, allows the mixer circuitry to adjust for different strength of signals. Here is a link to the mixer you describe. Maybe it will help the discussion. Buy Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer online at Musician's Friend And the manual: http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbas...n/m_634271.pdf |
