I have pretty much the same board, except mines a Eurorack. Makes a decent preamp for recording one track at a time. Mainly I use it for small live gigs for my wife and I, where a couple monitors are all I need to be heard. 2 mics, keyboard, and my acoustic. What made you decide to go with this unit?

Looking at this, your budget is probably not very high. Go to walmart, target, radioshack and get some cheapo microphones, and mic cables. If the mic has a cord on it, make sure it's XLR on the other end. You can use it as a song-writing tool for your band. Without delving into pre-amps or adapters, this mixer can take 4 mics. Place a mic in front of your drums, vocals, guitar and bass. If you have 2 guitarists, bass will have to be left behind. They'll understand, they're bassists (j/k). Hook up the RCA outputs to a tape recorder, or recorder of any kind. Hell, you can even use an old VCR. The outputs of your recorder will go into your "tape in" or "line in" on the mixer, so you can hear what you have recorded. For an added $80-100 bucks you have yourself a practice recorder. |

But yeah I Know How To Work A Mixer I Just Want To know How I Can Incorporate It. Cause I Was Told They Help With Sound Clean up And I HAve Like Old Junky Computers That Cant DO Much Besides Storage. So If You Have More Suggestions Let Me Know. (And I Like This Recorder Idea)

Oh, . . . . no Your sound is as strong as your weakest link. If you have a $3000 Avalon pre-amp going into a stock computer sound card, the sound will not be very clear and would not be worth it. A mixer of that sort doesn't improve sound like you think. If you want to get into computer recording get a cheap stereo interface so that you can incorporate my first idea into a computer instead of a tape recorder. This one interface has 1 stereo input. Meaning you can mic the drums with 4 mics, then go back and record guitar/bass/vox seperately. Once you learn that, you will know what direction you want to go in the wonderful world of computer recording. btw: What do you call the guy that follows the band around, driving the van and carrying the equipment? The bass player. |

Back when I used a mixer for recording, I used the preamp and immediately sent the signal to my audio interface. Have you tried that? I never bothered with the EQs on the mixer. Brandon |

I have the behringer xenyx 1202, usb interfaced into laptop with the behringer uca202, which is a great and cheap usb interface that does what it says it will do. From here I just use the complimentary Kristal/Audicty programmes to record and edit whatever I or my band play (depending on how you use the mixer) Bearing in mind, I just live record our jam sessions using this, I havn't used it for trying out a demo like the other guys said of vox/gat/bass/keys and layer on drums seperate. I digress. I use lines 1 -4 for drum mics, 5/6 gat, 7/8 keys, 9/10 bass, 11/12 input from vocal amp. RCA output into uca202 interface into laptop. Some musicians can get too anal about what equipment you use, dont worry about it dude, as long as your giving it a go and learning, thats the main thing. I mean really, if you want awesome recordings, let an enginner record, mic and m,aster you form a studio. Rock on. \m/ |
