I bought the m audio fast track!

Well I bought the m audio fast track even though I have windows media center. I have a couple problems but I dont know if its because of the media center.

It came with pro tools version 7 that wont load because it says it cant find the m audio hardware.

Noob question now: The only way I can hear sound is when I play through the headphones. I thought the sound would play through my pc.
I see the L and R outputs on the back of the fast track. Do I need powered monitors to hear sound with out the headphones? I have powered speakers running off my pc but they dont have the rc plugs that would fit into the fast track.

I also cant figure out how to record my guitar with the drum tracks. I can play with the drum tracks but when I hit record it wont play the drum track.

I have much more respect for the people who do this now. I do belive the software could be a little more user friendly. Its way overcomplicated .

Did you install ProTools before installing the Fast Track?
Have you tried re-starting the computer then installing ProTools?

The Fast track replaces your sound card. Yes, you need ot get your monitors plugged into the fast track.

The software is not overcomplicated. It needs to be that complex because most of us need it to do a lot! You just need to learn how it works and it will become simple, believe me.

If its not playing the drum track when trying to record to another track, its probably the way monitoring is set. Try reading through the basics in the manual, and then if that doesn't work, get back to us with more on how you're setting up your tracks.

I think this is going back to the guitar center tomorrow. To many issues.
I did like the guitar effects though. It was about the only thing that worked. None of the sample tracks would load in the playlist for the gt. The sound is supposed to come out of my pc. I shouldnt have to buy the monitors. I looked on the gt website forums and there are alot of people not happy with this product. Lots of problems. No support. Im sure the fast track would be fine with different software. Well.....I gotta try and get this crap back in the box.
