Default How to record multiple tracks?

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to lay down a vocal track and an instrumental track together using Sony Soundforge 8.0. I'd like to first record the instrumental, then play it back and record the vocal while it plays in the background, then splice them together.

Does anyone know how to do this, or do I know a different program then Soundforge?

Thanks!

Gremlin

I guess there's no Soundforge users here. I'm not either, but on most software you arm a track for recording and then record the track. Next you open a second track, arm it for recording while the first track is in play mode only. This let's you do exactly what you describe.

Sound Forge is not designed to multi-track. It's simply designed to edit individual wav files. In Sony land, you'd need Vegas for that. I generally recommend Cubase to most users.

Cubase 4 carries a price tag of $600.00. I was speaking with an audiophile buddy of mine and I asked him about Cubase. He's used it but said it's really complicated to use. Plus since it's Steinberg, you gotta dongle.

I've got a dongle, but the law says I can't show it to anyone in public...

Would you show it to me if I gave you $600.00?

Hell, I'd send the Pope a picture of it for $60.00 and a spiffy haircut.
