Default hooking up studio monitors to computer

I have two Alesis Monitor One speakers wired to an Alesis RA 150 amp in my very basic home studio. I can't figure out how to get a signal to them from my computer. I used an adapter to come out of my Audigy 2 sound card's speaker jack and into the inputs on the amp but the signal is extremely weak. What am I doing wrong?

It could be the adapters. I'd wiggle them first to see if there is any change.
Are you positive you have the correct adapters?

Are you positive the volume is cranked up in your soundcard's control panel?
