    Exclamation HELP: sE Z3300a Microphone

Hey everyone and thanks for viewing this thread. I really need help with my brand new set-up. I have had Pro tools LE 8 and a sE Z3300a Mic for literally 2 days and pro tools is working perfectly. However, I can't get any sound from my microphone what-so-ever. It requires phantom power and I've got that turned on. The only thing I can possibly think of is that its due to my lead not being able to handle the phantom power. I've tried a really old mic of mine which does work but this one doesn't require phantom power, this is why I think it may be the lead.

I've posted a vid on youtube so I can describe it better:

I am desperate for help and really appreciate any ideas, many thanks to everyone!

    1) I realize a big ol' chunk of members here are from Canada and the UK. However, when I hear your voices, I just want to wear bad clothes, hide in the woods, put you in stupid looking red clothes, and shoot you. Alright, not really. I probably hear the UK accent more than I hear the American accent and that's no joke.

    To work we go:

    2) At "zed" four four (0:44) you've got the SE mic plugged into Input #1. I see the meter going to town. Obviously, there's no sound. What's the meter doing? If phantom power was screwed, you'd get zero or extremely close to it.

    3) Hang on. Your not-Speilberg abilities through me off. You are using a 1/4 cable, right? For that cable to pass phantom power it would have to be TRS and not your standard guitar cable. It's possible that jack isn't wired to pass phantom power anyway (regardless of whether the cable can). It's probably and "instrument" input, which has it's impedance optimized for bass and guitar DI or whatever.

Anyhow, try a real-deal XLR to XLR cable and that should take care of it.

    Brandon
