Help with monitoring plz!!

im trying to figure out wut i would have to upgrade to in order to hear my vocals in the headphones as i am recording it,i have a audio technica 20/20,behringer eurorack mixer and im operating on the adobe audition daw,when i try it kno it is strongly delayed,wut can i do to fix that?

Your stock computer soundcard is not made for recording decent audio..You need a real audio interface. Use the SoundCard Wizard on this site to help you choose one..they start at about $100.

thanks im about to purchase the m audio firewire 410..would this purchase up the all around quality of my recordings as well?

yes sir! anythings better than a stock card. but you will hear a difference.

You can go up to 192 kHz sampling rate if you want, which is ridiculously great quality (overkill). This thing has MIDI, high-Z instrument inputs, phantom power etc. Looks like a fine choice.

And your latency (delay) should go way down. Make sure you have 6 pin Firewire on your computer.

how do i check for that?and if i dont have it how do i get it?

I think many laptops use 4 pin firewire but I think you would have to check your computer specs. I don't know if you can see the difference visually. What computer are you going to use? Apples all have firewire I think, but many PCs do not.. You can buy a Firewire card for $15 or so...

im using a gateway laptop ill check for it and if not ill get the card ima prolly order the soundcard from ebay this week,ill let yall kno how everything works out for me,i also have a portabooth comming in from editors key aswell ill be putting up a review on that aswell...
